Help out at summer camp in a Russian orphanage for children with special needs
July 3rd –August 2nd
Every year since 2000, the Russian Orphan Opportunity Fund (ROOF) has organized a summer camp for around a hundred handicapped children aged 7-18, living in the small village of Belskoye Ustye (Pskov oblast, Western Russia). Bringing volunteers together from across the world we help the children overcome isolation, learn more about the real world outside of the orphanage and give them hope for a better life...

During the Summer Camp, volunteers
􀂃 teach fun educational classes
􀂃 make puppets, creatures, collages etc.
􀂃 play games they know or create themselves
􀂃 organise festivals
􀂃 perform plays
􀂃 go hiking with the children
􀂃 organise sports competitions
􀂃 design and create costumes
􀂃 dance with the children at self-organised discos
...and anything else they can think of that will be fun for the children,
and potentially offer them new and exciting experiences that will help them enjoy their summer holiday!

Programme costs: volunteers must meet all visa and travel related expenses
Lodging: For the duration of the camp programme ROOF provides lodging; volunteers can also bring their own tents they can put up in the garden.
Visa service: ROOF will provide invitations for those programme participants who apply before May 3th; for those who apply after this deadline we can offer advice on invitations, visas etc.
