A big thank you to OURS, which through its sheer awesomeness inspired me to set up a Russian Society at Northumbria University when I started my Masters there and, to my horror, discovered there was no Russian Society. I loved OURS so much that really, my main aim in going back to university was not to study, but to meet more Russians... We're only small at the moment as there aren't many Russian students at the university but we're all really keen and we're now having regular events such as conversational events, parties, ulichnie gonki etc, and we'll soon be promoting Russian culture at the university's Diversity Week with Russian music, film and food! We hope to get more interest through the year, hopefully carry on growing and maybe infiltrate Newcastle University - who knows!

When OURS celebrates its 200th birthday, hopefully the Northumbria University Russian Society will be celebrating its 100th...
